Lewis Hamilton’s response when asked if he’ll have a family after he retires from F1

Although Lewis Hamilton has stated that he would like to have children in the future, at this point in his career, his top priority is still performing well on the track.

The seven-time world champion wants to make sure he ends his time with the Silver Arrows on a high note. The British driver is scheduled to depart Mercedes at the end of the current season after reaching an unexpected agreement to join Ferrari in 2025.

Although Hamilton has had a difficult few weeks with Mercedes—he recently finished sixth in the Singapore Grand Prix and experienced “borderline heatstroke” at the end of the race—he is still optimistic that a return to form is imminent.

Out of respect for Mercedes, the 39-year-old has publicly downplayed talk of a potential move to Ferrari; however, he has other plans besides joining the Italian powerhouse.

Hamilton said, “One day,” in response to a question about whether he would like to start a family in the future while speaking to The Times.

“With that, I couldn’t accomplish what I do to the degree that I do it now. Recently, one of my closest friends gave birth, and I can already see how crazy it is. My nephew and nieces are also very energetic. I’m excited for the part where there will be a time and place for it. However, as of right now, I have some work to do.

Despite being one of the oldest drivers in the F1 grid, Hamilton does not currently seem to be considering ending his career and concentrating on non-racing issues, such as starting a family.

“To be honest, I feel healthier than I have ever been right now,” he said. Both mentally and physically, I’m in great shape. I still have faster reaction times than the young guys.

“I believe my driving has improved since I was 22. I was just a young, ruthless, and exuberant person with no grace or balance. I had no idea how to lead or work well in a team. Being the most well-rounded racing driver is more important than just being quick.

“I look at the entire package when studying the legends because they are dispersed throughout small percentages. What do they stand for and speak for? I look up to Nelson Mandela and Ayrton Senna because those are the two individuals who most closely resemble me.
