Tiger Woods accused of unlawfully hijacking another brand’s logo for Sun Day Red: Reports

Tiger Woods has come under fire for allegedly stealing the Sun Day Red line’s logo from another company. Tigeraire and the golfer’s company are currently engaged in a trademark dispute.

After splitting from Nike earlier this year, the 15-time major champion unveiled Sun Day Red, his customized apparel brand. Numerous items have been released since then.

But the business is currently mired in yet another scandal.

Tigeraire, a company that makes cooling products for athletes, filed a notice of opposition with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday, September 26, according to CNBC. The notice accuses Woods’s company of illegally using Tigeraire’s design.

“By flagrantly ignoring Tigeraire’s long-standing protected mark, brand, and identity, Sun Day Red, TaylorMade, and Tiger Woods violate both federal and state intellectual property laws and cause confusion among consumers. SDR’s application ought to be rejected, the court document stated, as reported by CNBC.

Nonetheless, TaylorMade Golf is secure in its trademark securitization. Sun Day Red is the brainchild of the giant in golf equipment manufacturing, for those who don’t know. A representative for Tiger Woods declined to comment on the situation. They have 40 days to submit a notice response.

While some of the top players on the PGA Tour are competing at the Royal Montreal Golf Club for the Presidents Cup, Woods will remain out of action this season.

Following the Open Championship, the 82-time PGA Tour winner had previously declared he would not be participating in any more events this season. His final round of golf was at Royal Troon, where he missed the cut. He had back surgery earlier this month because he was still having back problems. This season, Woods has missed three cuts, all in prestigious competitions. At Augusta National, he only advanced to the weekend of the Masters Tournament, marking his 24th straight cut.

Since the 2020 Zozo Championship, Woods hasn’t taken home a championship on the PGA Tour. For those who are unaware, he only needs to win one more game to overtake Sam Snead as the Tour’s all-time winningest player. Additionally, Woods trails Jack Nicklaus by one victory to tie for the record for most major championship victories. At the 2019 Masters, he claimed his final major championship victory.
