Lando Norris teases Max Verstappen with three-word taunt after Dutch GP masterclass

After ruining Max Versatppen’s homecoming at the Dutch Grand Prix, Lando Norris was feeling particularly naughty.

Lando Norris celebrated his commanding victory in the Dutch Grand Prix by using his rival’s now-famous radio catchphrase: “Simply lovely, huh?” in response to race engineer Will Joseph.

The McLaren driver defeated the three-time world champion by 20 seconds in front of a sold-out crowd because he knew he had to win at Max Verstappen’s home race to set off the championship fight.

As he crossed the finish line, Norris teased his opponent with his catchphrase, “simply lovely.” However, the British driver was also able to celebrate by earning an additional point after turning the fastest lap of the race during the last lap around the Zandvoort circuit.

After the chequered flag, Norris shared his thoughts, saying: “It feels amazing.” Even though lap one happened again, I wouldn’t call the race perfect, but it was still stunning.

“The car was incredible, and the pace was strong.” I could push through Max. It was an easy race to follow. arduous but pleasurable.”

Norris was unconcerned even though Verstappen had taken the lead early in the race. He said, “Very early on, from lap five, six, or seven,” in response to the question of when he realized he could win.

“Max never started pushing or creating a space, which surprised me. I thought we were in the fight from that point on. My speed was improving, but he seemed to keep falling off. I could settle in and exert pressure.”

The victory margin was a clear declaration from Norris, who will aim for back-to-back victories at the Italian Grand Prix the following weekend in an attempt to close the gap on Versatppen’s championship lead.

With nine races remaining, McLaren made significant progress in the Constructors’ Championship race, cutting the deficit to 30 points. Red Bull’s top driver lost eight points to his title rival in Zandvoort.
