Simone Biles has returned home from her hectic Parisian few weeks. The gymnast revealed that she returned to the United States on Monday, August 12, following her successful run at the 2024 Olympics and a wild night out following the Sunday, August 11, closing ceremony. Simone, 27, shared a picture of her plane landing in her native country before posting a makeup-free selfie from her bed with the words, “Never been so happy.” Simone arrived in Paris in mid-July in anticipation of the 2024 Olympic Games. She competed in the qualification round before starting a multi-day competition on July 30 with her USA teammates Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, Hezly Rivera, and Jade Carey in the team finals. The women took home the golf medals.
Still competing, the Ohioan went on to win two more gold medals in the vault and individual all-around competitions.
On August 5, Simone won a silver medal in floor exercise even though she did not place in the balance beam division. She had a few days off after the competition to explore the city and watch other sporting events before the closing ceremony.
“It was such an honor,” she wrote on Instagram after giving some thought to her experience. Simone acknowledged that her Olympic experience had been a blur and said she was having trouble finding the right words to describe it. She did, however, express her unwavering gratitude for representing the US.
Simone went out for a night on the town following the closing ceremony, which she admittedly felt the effects of the next morning. She wrote, “The reason I’m unwell this morning,” as the caption for a club-related Instagram Story video. She said, “If you see me out at the club, please tell me to go home,” in another video. For myself & health in the morning,” accompanied by an emoticon of tears and laughter. Following Simone’s withdrawal from several competitions owing to a mental block known as the
“twisties” at the Olympics in 2020. The professional athlete returned to competition in Paris, surpassing her previous fears that she would never compete again. She is also not discounting a return to the mat for the Los Angeles 2028 Games. “You never say never,” she said following the vault championship. You never know; the next Olympics will be held in your country. I’m just going to unwind and watch where life leads me.
Later on, she made it clear that she didn’t want to be asked about her plans for the future at this time.
Athletes shouldn’t be questioned nonstop about what to do after winning an Olympic medal, the author stated on X. Enjoy the time we have spent so much effort accumulating. At the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, Simone had already won gold in the vault, floor, individual all-around, and team competition. She also took home a bronze on the balance beam.
In addition to her bronze on the balance beam, the only individual event she competed in, she won silver with Team USA in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The gymnast with the most awards in history is Simone.
