Jack Nicklaus gets his wish with latest PGA Tour announcement

Jack Nicklaus, the golf legend, will be happy that the Memorial has returned to its usual date following the PGA Tour’s announcement of their 2025 schedule.

With the release of the PGA Tour’s 2025 schedule, Jack Nicklaus has finally received his wish.

The Memorial Tournament was rescheduled this year a week ahead of the U.S. Open, which infuriated the Golden Bear.

The 84-year-old stated at his yearly press conference at Muirfield Village that he would prefer the PGA Tour stop to return to its customary date, which is the week after Memorial Day.

Nicklaus once stated, “When I played, I rarely played a week before any major championship.”

“I would never play golf, but I’m asked to help put on a tournament in a week.”

As a favor to the Tour, Nicklaus said he consented to move the Memorial for 2024.

The Canadian Open will take the place of the Memorial two weeks ahead of the U.S. Open in 2025, with the Memorial taking place two weeks before the major.

On August 14, PGA Tour members received a letter with the entire schedule.

The FedExCup regular season and playoffs will take place in 39 locations this year, including the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and the United States.

There are eight major occasions.

The Tour stated that more information about the FedExCup Fall Schedule will be released later.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan stated in the memo that “the new schedule and competitive changes introduced in 2024 were significant steps towards creating the best version of the PGA Tour for our fans and players.”

All in all, the fields were much better, and spectators had more chances to watch the top players on the PGA Tour square off at the marquee events.

“One thing is certain as we move into the second year of this revised schedule: winning on the PGA Tour is still one of the hardest and most satisfying feats in sports.

“We extend our gratitude to all of our members, with a special thanks to our player directors, player advisory council, tournaments, and partners.”

It has been verified elsewhere that Truist will serve as the official title sponsor for the Tour’s Charlotte stop.

The financial corporation has committed to sponsoring the event at Quail Hollow Club for a period of seven years.

Additionally, RBC has committed to one-year extensions for the Canadian Open and the Heritage.

The only significant sponsor query for the Tour has been the bank.

This indicates that for the seventh consecutive season, the PGA Tour is fully sponsored.
