Max Verstappen should be concerned about Lewis Hamilton’s latest declaration

Lewis Hamilton is hungry for more glory after winning the British Grand Prix, and he believes Mercedes can keep up the pressure on Max Verstappen throughout the season.

Max Verstappen has received a warning from Lewis Hamilton that Mercedes will become “even stronger” in the upcoming races.

With Hamilton’s victory at the British Grand Prix, the Silver Arrows have gained prominence and demonstrated their ability to contend at the front once more. Thus, when these three teams play Red Bull in the coming weeks, they have all proven their mettle.

After a few seasons of stagnation, Mercedes has finally made significant progress with their cars thanks to recent upgrades. The seven-time Formula One champion is optimistic about his chances of keeping up the pressure on Verstappen, especially with more new parts on the way.

“We weren’t going anywhere near Red Bull, for example, when we started the season and it didn’t look like we would ever get a win through the year,” Hamilton stated. It seemed to me that having something similar at the end of the season would be somewhat bittersweet.

“There has been a significant shift from the foundation from last year in the way that we’ve all come together and worked so hard to get the car into a situation where we feel much more at ease. Therefore, we’ve aimed to leave on a high note, so [I’m] not leaving on a low note.

“A very long way remains to be done. The car isn’t the fastest one on the grid at the moment by any means. We seem really close to each other, and maybe the upcoming update will put us in a better position to fight at the front row more frequently.”

Before the summer break, the team will make those final upgrades during the next two races, starting with the Hungarian Grand Prix, according to team principal Toto Wolff. The Austrian expressed his happiness that his team appears to have finally found a way to give this generation of cars a noticeable performance boost.

“It clicked when you realize that five races ago, we weren’t even in the running for the podium, and it appeared to be the third year of no performance,” the speaker stated. All of the things that were confusing started to make sense at once. and the development directions’ outcomes are returning to what they were in the past. We are determining performance, applying it to the vehicle, and seeing a change in lap time.”

And Hamilton was pleased to announce that he had won on merit and didn’t require a lot of luck, in contrast to his team-mate George Russell’s victory in Austria a week earlier. “George’s win last week was amazing, but it wasn’t on pure pace,” the speaker continued.

“I believe that this past weekend was the first time we executed it with just speed; we both started the first stint leading the pack after qualifying first. In the end, though, I believe that given the current circumstances, the driver can have some influence.”
