Naomi Schiff has predicted that both Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes will face problems in the upcoming months. Lewis Hamilton announced back in February that this season would be his last with the company.
According to Naomi Schiff, there will probably be problems for both parties later in the season as a result of Lewis Hamilton’s imminent departure from Mercedes.
The 37-year-old Hamilton declared in February that he would be joining Ferrari after the season and leaving Mercedes. Considering that the British driver had only signed a multi-year contract a few months prior, the decision shocked Formula 1.
The seven-time world champion has raced for Mercedes for the last eleven seasons, enjoying a successful partnership with the team. Schiff, though, thinks that difficult times are still ahead, as he stated on the Sky Sports F1 podcast.
She stated: “It was evident in Monaco that Lewis was not going to outqualify George Russell for the remainder of the season based on some strange body language.” I’m not sure if this is a result of a new psychological layer that is emerging, but it seems like Lewis and the team are divorcing, and this will happen throughout the season.
Schiff, a former Formula One driver and current Sky Sports pundit, believes it’s only natural that the relationship between both parties will change in the upcoming months after outlining some of the potential problems that may face Hamilton and Mercedes.
“He’s going to start getting left out of important meetings,” she continued. New components: George will be the team’s choice in that regard, but it goes without saying that he will win the championship first.
However, a layer of doubt will be sown by all these kinds of things. “What game are they playing?” is a thought that crosses Lewis’s mind as well as the team’s, and Mercedes wonders if Lewis has checked out and is still on board.
“I am aware that Mercedes and Lewis have expressed a desire to end their relationship on a positive note. They both seem to feel that way, in my opinion.
In an interview with CBS last month, Hamilton, who has had a challenging season, emphasized his resolve to turn things around and expressed his desire to leave Mercedes in style.
“I think everyone in the team wants it to be a great year,” he clarified. Nobody has put in as much work as they have at the factory, if not more.
“Because I love this team so much, this entire journey has been really emotional for me. I’m not unhappy there, so I’m not leaving. My departure is not due to problems in my relationship.
Since I was 13, Mercedes has supported me, so I adore the brand. I adore the folks. They have supported me through good times and bad. Thus, the transition is undoubtedly peculiar at the moment.
