In Anglesey, North Wales, Matthew Wharton is opening a brand-new golf course for play and parties.
In homage to Woods’ PopStroke, he has chosen to name the location “PuttStroke.”
Due to this, the 48-year-old golfer’s attorneys have now intervened.
In a prior interview with NorthWalesLive, Wharton, 50, made light of the possibility that Woods would pay a visit.
He did admit that PopStroke, which presently has several locations across the United States, served as an inspiration.
Additionally, he now told the publication that he finds the legal action humorous.
In addition, he is pleased to comply with the request and modify the name.
“When I got the letter, I was a little surprised,” he remarked.
“It came rather quickly after I made the venture public. It surprised me that Tiger had noticed it right away.
“But in a way, that’s really flattering—perhaps it indicates he’s nervous about the competition!”
“I’m happy to go along with the request and look for a new name,” the man continued.
“I’ve made the decision to ask the public for inspiration to see if they can think of anything appropriate.
“If the new name isn’t Putty McPuttFace or something similar, I’d be happy to hear suggestions.”
“We would appreciate suggestions for names that would prioritize Welsh and translate well, as we live in a Welsh village and are working to promote the language.”
Woods’ TGR Venture, TaylorMade Golf Company, and Greg Bartoli are the owners of PopStroke Entertainment.
Two 18-hole putting courses that were created by Woods are part of the technologically advanced golf entertainment venues.
There is a full-service restaurant and bar in addition to the courses.
In other Woods-related news, the golfer qualified for the 88th Masters.
However, he had a difficult weekend and came in dead last.
Despite his disappointing performance, Woods stated that he still intended to compete in the three majors that are still scheduled for 2024.
