The controversy surrounding Red Bull and Christian Horner is still growing as Formula One drivers hold press conferences in advance of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. These celebrities will be practicing in Jeddah today (Thursday) in an effort to unseat Max Verstappen, who won the season’s opening race.
After a protracted Red Bull investigation, Horner, the team principal, was cleared of any inappropriate behavior charges. However, controversy erupted when Verstappen’s father Jos demanded that the 50-year-old be fired.
Lewis Hamilton and other prominent F1 figures were asked to weigh in on the matter since Verstappen has been connected to a Mercedes seat.
At the Bahrain Grand Prix, Jos Verstappen had a meeting with Silver Arrows chief Toto Wolff. The three-time world champion has backed his father, but Horner has also received support from Sergio Perez as the controversy continues into the season’s second race.
Christian Horner breaks silence on Jos Verstappen criticism
In an address to Max Verstappen’s father, Jos, Christian Horner demanded that he resign from his position as Red Bull CEO due to concerns about the F1 team “exploding.”
The situation has become more strained as a result of a falling out with Verstappen Sr. The two were seen having a heated argument last weekend in Bahrain.
After that, Verstappen Sr. demanded that Horner resign. He told The Daily Mail, “There is tension here while he stays in position.” “There’s a chance this team could fall apart. Things cannot continue as they are. It is going to blow up.”
In a heated press conference on Thursday, Horner was cautious with his words, saying, “Obviously, I’m aware of the comments that were made.
“After the Bahrain Grand Prix, I spoke with Jos and congratulated him on his son’s performance. I believe it’s in everyone’s best interest to concentrate on the future.”
Lewis Hamilton weighs in on Red Bull row
Lewis Hamilton has shared his thoughts on the rivalry between Jos Verstappen and Christian Horner at Red Bull.
Verstappen Sr. informed Horner that his position is untenable, even though Horner was found not guilty after a team investigation into claims of inappropriate behavior.
Hamilton, on the other hand, doesn’t think that Red Bull is benefiting from the current state of affairs. “I don’t know the specifics,” he remarked. So I’m not sure what he’s using as the basis for these foundations.
“But in the end, he’s a parent, not a member of the team. That’s just an opinion, though, and it’s unhelpful nonetheless.
