Max Verstappen’s dad blasts Christian Horner over ‘playing victim’ and demands Red Bull exit

After an investigation, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner was found not guilty of “inappropriate behavior” and rejoined the team for the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The father of the current Formula 1 world champion Max, Jos Verstappen, has threatened to have the Red Bull Formula 1 team “torn apart” if Christian Horner stays in his role.

Verstappen Sr.’sremarksfollow Horner’s exoneration from misconduct after an internal probe. The CEO of Red Bull refuted the accusations and has since repeated his denials. However, the matter has taken a further turn after the Dutchman—whose son has won three world titles with Red Bull—made derogatory remarks.

The elder Verstappen told The Mail, “There is tension here while he stays in position.” “There’s a chance this team could fall apart. Things cannot continue as they are. It’s going to blow up. Even though he is the one creating the issues, he is acting the victim.”

Additionally, Verstappen Sr. has refuted rumors that he has started a campaign to remove Horner. “That is not logical. “When Max is doing so well here, why would I do that?” he continued.

Red Bull announced on Wednesday that Horner’s charges had been dropped. Red Bull can confirm that the grievance has been dismissed, and the independent investigation into the allegations made against Mr. Horner is complete, according to a statement. It is the complainant’s right to file an appeal. Red Bull is certain that the inquiry was conducted in an impartial, thorough, and fair manner.

“We will refrain from providing any additional comments out of respect for all parties involved, as the investigation report is confidential and includes the private information of the parties and third parties who assisted in the investigation. Red Bull will keep working to uphold the best standards in the workplace.”

On Thursday night, less than 48 hours before the first grand prix of the 2024 season, Horner released a statement of his own. Max Verstappen won that race in Bahrain, with Sergio Perez, his Red Bull teammate, coming in second.

In a statement released on Thursday, Horner said, “I have always denied the allegations, but I will not comment on anonymous speculation.” “I completely cooperated with the independent investigation at every stage, respecting its objectivity.

“An independent specialist barrister carried out a comprehensive and impartial investigation, which resulted in the complaint being dismissed. I’m still completely focused on the beginning of the season.”

After his team’s one-two, Horner told Sky the team was “absolutely” united. “We are a very strong team. We have got tremendous support, tremendous partners and great shareholders behind us as well. You don’t achieve this kind of result by not being united,” he said.
