“WHAT’S HE EVER DONE?!” PGA TOUR WINNER SLAMS TALOR GOOCH’S MASTERS COMMENTS

Rocco Mediate, a six-time PGA Tour winner, lashes out at Talor Gooch for his remarks about Rory McIlroy at the Masters.

Rocco Mediate, a six-time winner of the PGA Tour, has criticized Talor Gooch of LIV Golf for his remarks regarding The Masters.

The 32-year-old Gooch told Australian Golf Digest on Tuesday that if Rory McIlroy were to complete the career grand slam in April, the major would require an asterisk to be placed next to it because many players from LIV Golf would not be able to play at Augusta National.

He told the publication:

“There will be an asterisk if Rory McIlroy manages to accomplish his [career grand slam] without the assistance of some of the world’s top players. That’s the way things are. Everybody benefits, in my opinion, whenever the majors manage to bring the greatest players in the world to town.”
Gooch finished in the top 40 before quitting the PGA Tour in 2022 to join LIV Golf.

Last season, he not only won the individual season-long championship, but he also won three times on LIV Golf.

However, since LIV Golf is still unable to obtain important Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points, Gooch, who placed T34 at the Masters the previous year and missed the cut at the US PGA and The Open, is ranked 449th in the world.

This means he cannot play in The Masters, the first major of the season.

Gooch’s remarks have undoubtedly caused a lot of dispair in the golf community.

The American then responded angrily to golf reporter Dan Rapaport of Barstool Sports, expanding on his ideas.

Although not many players have reacted to Gooch’s most recent comments, six-time PGA Tour winner Mediate has, and he’s taken aim at the winner of the 2021 RSM Classic*.

Mediate said on his SiriusXM show:
“There ought to be an asterisk if Rory wins The Masters, then. Why is that, I wonder? All of the previous champions on LIV, along with everyone else who belongs in The Masters, are competing. Is it that he’s not allowed in? How far does he go? How could he even know? It is embarrassing that he was LIV’s best player the previous year. True. He’s won one PGA Tour event, so can he really count that as his victory, whatever the hell that was? Nobody is concerned. So please, just shut up, mind your own business, and take all his money. Simply put, quit You mean to say something about Rory? Are you serious? Are you really trying to tell me this? It’s awkward. “Dude, you need to shut up, just shut up, we’ll handle this,” should be LIV’s response. Guess what? Every guy who ought to be at Augusta National will be there.”
