F1 release Christian Horner statement amid Red Bull investigation into chief’s behaviour

Christian Horner remains under investigation at Red Bull amid an allegation of inappropriate behaviour, although the team principal is still working ahead of the new Formula 1 season

Formula 1 have released a statement commenting on the allegation of inappropriate behaviour levelled at Red Bull team principal Christian Horner.

The 50-year-old Horner was accused of acting inappropriately toward a female coworker earlier this month, prompting Red Bull to launch an investigation. During his first public appearance on Thursday, Horner vehemently refutes the accusation and insists it was “business as normal.”

Following this, F1 released the following statement: “We have observed that Red Bull has initiated an independent investigation into internal claims at Red Bull Racing. We hope that the issue will be resolved as soon as possible following a thorough and equitable process. won’t be making any more comments at this time.”

Their remarks come after Horner’s vehement denial at Red Bull’s new car announcement ahead of the 2024 season. The husband of Spice Girl Geri Halliwell confirmed, speaking to Sky Sports this past Thursday: “It’s business as usual.” Naturally, I refute all of the charges that have been leveled against me, but I will cooperate with the investigation, which I hope will be finished soon.

“I am unable to comment on the specifics of that process. I clearly trust the process and am working with it, and I vehemently refute any accusations that have been made. I just keep working within that process until it comes to an end.”

It is believed that Horner denied the charge on Friday, February 9 during confrontational negotiations at Red Bull’s Milton Keynes headquarters. The 50-year-old continued by saying that his 2015 bride Geri, with whom he has three children, has been “extremely supportive.” He said, “I’ve been concentrating on my work and the upcoming season.”

Since Red Bull’s 2005 Formula 1 debut, Horner has served as the team principal, making him the grid’s longest-serving manager. The Leamington Spa-born manager has managed six constructors’ titles and seven drivers’ world championships during that time.

Last year, Red Bull proved their superiority by winning 21 of the 22 races, and three-time world champion Max Verstappen set a new record by winning 10 straight Grand Prix.

During Red Bull’s season launch event, driver Max Verstappen seemed at ease as he said, “I’m not sure who enjoys writing these kinds of things.” But it seems like it always is to Christian and me. As for me, I’m totally focused on my own performance—that is, getting ready, staying in shape, being ready to drive the car, talking with the engineers about what I want to do, etc.

Moreover, F1 is not my entire existence. Outside of my scheduled training, I try not to think about Formula One too much when I’m at home. I’m kept quite busy at home because I have a lot of things going on in the background regarding what I want to accomplish in the future, including the virtual racing aspect of my work.”

On Sunday, March 2, the 2024 Formula One season gets underway in Bahrain.
