Tiger Woods gives groundbreaking update on surgically repaired ankle

Tiger Woods, a 15-time major winner, will make his PGA Tour comeback on Thursday at the Genesis Invitational. He has fully recovered from his amazing ankle surgery.

Tiger Woods said that his surgically repaired ankle is “pain-free” as he gets ready to compete in the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles, his first PGA Tour event of 2024.

The tournament’s co-host, Woods, hasn’t appeared on the Tour since taking part in the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas last December. For the 82-time PGA Tour winner, it’s his first competitive outing of the year.

Woods only made three appearances on the Tour in 2023 after being forced to play a restricted schedule in recent years due to physical ailments. Prior to returning for the Masters, where he struggled and withdrew due to an ankle injury, he participated in the Genesis Invitational last year.

Before making a final comeback at the end of the year, Woods missed the following eight months while he healed and underwent rehabilitation. The 15-time major champion is eager to play without flinching, even though he is still getting used to his recently rebuilt body.

Woods told reporters, “My ankle doesn’t hurt any more; the bones aren’t rubbing any more.” However, it’s not the same as that; just as my back is fused, other parts of my body bear the brunt of that.

“I’ve fused two separate body parts together. The body’s other parts must adjust.

Woods won his most recent PGA Tour event at the Japan-based Zozo Championship in 2019. With the win, he matched Sam Snead’s record of 82 Tour victories. If his health permits, the former World No. 1 hopes to participate in one event each month.

Woods concludes by saying, “As far as the love, I still love competing, I love playing, I love being a part of the game of golf.” Woods does not intend to slow down. I want to play this game for the rest of my life because it’s the greatest.”

Woods has had an intriguing offseason. In the conflict with LIV Golf, he has continued to speak out for the PGA Tour, even though the legend abruptly ended his 27-year relationship with Nike.

Woods revealed earlier this week the introduction of his new line of clothing, “Sun Day Red” (SDR), which is a nod to the color he dons on championship final day. In an attempt to win on the PGA Tour for the first time in four years, he will be hoping that the start of a new era brings him good fortune.
