Bryson DeChambeau provides LIV Golf merger update as PGA Tour close in on deal

The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) and the PGA Tour are in the midst of ongoing negotiations, and Bryson DeChambeau is optimistic that a deal will be reached soon.

According to Bryson DeChambeau, the PGA Tour and Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) are about to finalize their agreement.

The PGA Tour and PIF have been negotiating a deal that would end their animosity with LIV Golf since the latter’s shocking announcement in June of last year. As the negotiators failed to reach their deadline of December 31 to approve the deal, doubts were raised about it towards the end of last month.

Nonetheless, the Tour declared that talks would go on until 2024, and now one of LIV’s most well-known figures, DeChambeau, has asserted that a deal will be reached sooner rather than later.

“I believe the agreement will be reached sooner than anticipated,” DeChambeau stated, as reported by Sports Illustrated. “It may not occur in the upcoming weeks. A month or so, perhaps. But it will take place. There is currently no avoiding it. The welfare of the game for the audience is at stake here. the spectators’ enjoyment of the game.

“As time passes, we can see that these fans are growing more and more eager for us to all reunite. I am eager for that day to arrive.” DeChambeau is obviously interested in maintaining harmony, as the professional game was split apart by the animosity between the PGA Tour and LIV.

After choosing to switch to Saudi Arabia, DeChambeau and company were banned by commissioner Jay Monahan; the agreement is anticipated to give them the opportunity to rejoin the Tour. Along with PIF head Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Monahan has been at the center of the negotiations.

The DP World Tour, which is going through a transitional period due to CEO Keith Pelley’s impending departure from Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment in April, is also involved in the deal. But Pelley has postponed his departure in an effort to help the peace agreement pass before this year’s Masters.

During the Dubai Desert Classic last week, he told reporters, “I think we will definitely have a direction of travel by [April], yes, I do.”Like I mentioned, I believe that since the Ryder Cup, the discussions have heated up. That was what we anticipated. All sides seem to be willing, in my opinion.

“You know, there’s a willingness with PIF, and there’s definitely a willingness with us, when you bring in someone like FSG, which is now SSG, with strong players like Steve Cohen. I believe the game will be pretty exciting if we can work together.”
