Rory McIlroy will begin his 2024 PGA Tour season at the Dubai Invitational next week after making changes to his schedule with him setting his eyes on his first-ever green jacket

In an attempt to capture his first-ever green jacket at The Masters, Rory McIlroy appears to be focusing all of his efforts on the Augusta National this year.

In anticipation of what he hopes will be a busy 2024 calendar year, the four-time Grand Slam winner will be making adjustments to his regular schedule this year.

When discussing his upcoming schedule ahead of the Dubai Invitational, McIlroy hinted that he had made the necessary adjustments to position himself to contend for a green jacket in April.

“In fact, I’m going to play more before The Masters this year,” he declared. That will make this year’s events my ninth or tenth. It was my sixth or seventh before. Hopefully, I’ll be a little more adept and aware of my true abilities.”

Scottie Scheffler defeated McIlroy in the 2022 Augusta Masters, after McIlroy had several poor rounds at the game’s most prestigious event.

In spite of this, he acknowledged that this is the one competition he truly wants to win, and he talked about how desperate he is to do so as soon as possible.

“The Masters is the Disneyland of golf,” he declared. You enter, don the Mickey Mouse ears, and immerse yourself in the experience. And you become rational once you depart.

“My main goal for Augusta is to simply play well from the start. The weeks leading up to it are crucial for me to feel like I’m performing at my best.

“I hope I get to win it. Should I fail to do so, I’m sure I’ll regret not taking advantage of something. A few years ago, during an interview, I was asked if I thought I should have been given a green jacket. I am undeserving of anything.

“I’ve gotten more than enough from the game. I have to work for it outside of the house. I still have to go out and play golf even if people tell me the course is perfect for my game.

“There are not many players who have won three of the four majors, including me. However, I would prefer to be among the smaller group of people who have won all four.”

On the DP World Tour, McIlroy will begin his season at the Dubai Invitational. Next up is the Dubai Desert Classic. The Northern Irishman typically begins his US career in 2024 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which is part of the California swing.
