F1 LIVE: Hamilton gives Wolff leadership verdict as Mercedes gush over Ferrari starlet

The winter break may be underway, but there is still plenty happening in the world of F1 as the dust settles on a 2023 season to remember. Most of the eyes will be on Red Bull when the cars return to the track for testing as the reigning champions look to cement their considerable advantage.

In the 2023 season, Christian Horner’s team won 21 of the 22 Grands Prix, with Ferrari taking home the lone race victory in Singapore when Carlos Sainz defeated Lando Norris.

In the Mercedes camp, there was a lot less to rejoice about. In the Constructors’ Championship standings, the Silver Arrows may have defeated Ferrari, but Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were continually irritated by the W14’s erratic behavior.

Hamilton still has faith in Toto Wolff

Notwithstanding a challenging couple of seasons for the Mercedes team, Lewis Hamilton continues to have faith in team principal Toto Wolff.

“I’ve known Toto for a long time; he’s an amazing leader,” Hamilton said. “We both joined the team simultaneously. It’s been an intriguing journey for us both to develop alongside the team and watch his vision expand and advance inside the team’s framework.

Hamilton continued, saying, “[He’s] just keeping pushing everyone.” He’s a very approachable leader who people can connect with on an emotional, compassionate, and driven level. He is really perceptive.

And I believe that when you’re not working toward something and things aren’t quite going the way you want them to, it’s undoubtedly difficult for everyone on the team. I believe he has learned a lot, and I am quite pleased with the development he has made both personally and as a human being.
