Christian Horner changes tune on Lewis Hamilton to Red Bull as he angers Toto Wolff again

Christian Horner and Toto Wolff may be set for another angry Abu Dhabi showdown this weekend.

Reversing his earlier remarks from this week, Christian Horner stated that Lewis Hamilton had made “an inquiry” regarding the possibility of Horner joining Red Bull for the upcoming season. Toto Wolff was enraged by Horner’s remarks and began to wonder why his rival was doing it. Hamilton vehemently refuted Horner’s assertions, claiming that his countryman was the one who made the attempt to get in touch with him.

The British man proceeded to make fun of Horner for being “a little bit lonely” and for leveraging his name to attract more interest. When Horner was pressed to elaborate on his earlier remarks on Friday, the Red Bull team principal tried to downplay them and acknowledged that he had spoken with Anthony Hamilton earlier in the year. This led to more back and forth.

“The amount of traction this has gained is astounding,” Horner remarked. “It’s kind of a ‘He said, she said, who said, what said’ kind of thing.

“Differing conversations throughout the year among drivers, drivers’ representatives, and drivers’ parents is completely normal.” “Look, we haven’t really discussed anything with Lewis; there was never a seat available,” he continued.

“I have a long history with Anthony Hamilton. He’s a kind man, a proud father of a racer, and unavoidably, drivers encounter difficult times. Since Lewis hasn’t won a Grand Prix in the past two years, it’s only natural that questions will be raised throughout the paddock.

“However, there was never an engagement, and with the same surname you would think they were reasonably close, but I’m not sure who represents who or what.” Wolff is not pleased with Horner’s remarks and doesn’t understand why Horner felt compelled to assert that Red Bull and Hamilton had a conversation in the first place.

“What happened was that Christian wanted to speak with Lewis about the seat and asked for his contact information through an agency we work with. That was the entire course of events.

Christian was the one who asked about Lewis’s availability. Lewis told me right away about an exchange he had with Christian that had nothing to do with a seat and was just blah.”
