TIGER WOODS AND RORY MCILROY’S TGL LIKELY NOW DELAYED AS ROOF OF VENUE COLLAPSES

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL is likely to be delayed due to the venue’s roof collapsing, causing “significant disruption to construction in the area”.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy suffered another blow before TGL started using their new technology in January 2024, when the roof of TGL’s SoFi Center collapsed overnight.
TGL is a new technology-inspired golf tournament launched in partnership with the PGA Tour to give golf fans a new way to watch the game they love.

Conceived by Woods and McIlroy, the new tournament is expected to take place at a purpose-built modern facility, the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA.

This venue will give 2,000 golf enthusiasts the opportunity to witness the game up close and personal with a huge virtual simulator and elaborate short play area.

But those plans were hit hard as the first night approached, with less than two months to go.
According to a source on the ground, the collapse of the TGL roof would cause “significant disruption”.

Fortunately, no one was injured, the source confirmed, but the start of the new virtual tournament is now “possibly delayed”.

Woods and McIlroy’s new technology tournament is scheduled to begin on January 9, 2024.

TGL will strive to give golf fans the opportunity to witness some of the world’s best players compete in a team format that promises a “high-tech, high-energy experience for fan”.

Although the TGL will not feature three of the world’s top four players in Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm and Viktor Hovland, it will host McIlroy, Woods and many other PGA Tour stars.

Rahm revealed the real reason why he decided to leave TGL, after confirming his participation in the tournament earlier this season, during today’s DP World Tour Championship press conference.

McIlroy is confident TGL will attract young people to the sport.

He even thinks it will do better than what the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League has done in its two years of existence so far.

McIlroy decided to withdraw his seat from the PGA Tour table earlier this week.
Five reasons why McIlroy decided to resign from the PGA Tour board.

TGL was established in 2022 and was revealed with a number of additional incentives aimed at convincing the world’s best players to stay on the PGA Tour instead of leaving LIV Golf.
