PGA TOUR PRO ENTERS RECORD BOOKS AFTER MATCHING INCREDIBLE RECORD

A player on the PGA Tour matches the 1992-set 72-hole record.

Playing at the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal golf course, the World Wide Technology Championship saw PGA Tour pro Adam Long become just the sixth player in history to hit every fairway in a 72-hole competition.

Long, 36, incredibly hit 56/56 fairways.

The American becomes the first player since Brian Claar at the 1992 Memorial to hit every fairway in a 72-hole PGA Tour event, according to stats guru Justin Ray.

In the last 40 seasons on the circuit, Ray further affirms that Long is only the sixth member of the PGA Tour to accomplish this.

Calvin Peete twice accomplished the feat at the Memorial in 1986 and 1987.

On 17-under par, Long ultimately tied for 23rd place in the competition.

That put him ten strokes behind the winner, Erik van Rooyen, who won by two strokes after finishing birdie-birdie-eagle.

Remarkably, the WWT Championship last week had a 90% field average for fairways hit.

The PGA Tour average for fairways hit during the 2023 season is 58.7%.

Because of this, Woods’ golf course was extremely player-friendly from the outset, which accounts for the low scores.

In the last 40 PGA Tour seasons, Long is just the sixth player to accomplish this. Amazingly, Calvin Peete accomplished it twice at the Memorial in consecutive years (1986 & 1987).

Long has only won the once on the PGA Tour.

That win came at the 2019 Desert Classic.

Long is currently ranked 295th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
